TW: teeth, dentists, graphic descriptions Can someone help to calm me down? I know this is insanely gross and I’m so ashamed of myself. I haven’t been to the dentist in so long and I have a lot of plaque/tartar buildup and a piece broke off tonight and I’ve been freaking out ever since. I feel a “hole” where the piece broke off. I’m going to the dentist tomorrow and I’m so so so scared. My parents never taught my siblings and I oral hygiene and so because of that, I’ve neglected my teeth. Another reason is that I don’t have insurance and that’s an issue. I’m so scared that my teeth are in worse condition that I think.

Unfortunately dental care is a luxury in many places. You’re not alone and it’s totally normal. Your dentist will not judge you in the least tomorrow. They will do everything they can to get your teeth in tip too shape. Try to relax for right now. You’ll be in good hands tomorrow and everything will be okay!

dentists are there to help! they’ll be able to fix up your teeth and teach you how to properly care for them from here on out. also, they have definitely seen teeth in worse conditions than yours. i’m sure to them you’ll be a relatively normal procedure. something similar happened to my mom, a chunk of her tooth broke off and she had to see a dentist. everything went fine and she’s all good now and so will you! remember to breathe tomorrow and itll be over before you know it :)

I had the exact same problem as you so I know how you feel. I had a lot of plaque on my lower front teeth and genuinely believed I was gonna need all my teeth out. I finally built up the courage to go to the dentist and it was the best thing I did, the dentist completely understood my concerns and put me at ease. The procedure was a little uncomfortable but no where near as bad as I thought it would be. I live in the UK so paid for it on the NHS so I’m not sure how insurance works but if you can get the procedure done I promise you you will feel so much better. If you wanna talk more about it feel free to message me :)
