I used to take microgynon but my doctor has switched me over from that to desogestrel which is the mini pill. My doctor has done that to ease me into the implant and to put me on the waiting list etc because of covid. I was taking my previous pill normally and now it’s my break week (where I would normally get a period) but instead I am taking my mini pill, am I protected automatically or is it 7 days for protection as usual?

Your pamphlet should tell you how to switch pills safely

If you started the mini pill on the first day of your break then yes you’re protected straight away. The pamphlet of the mini pill will tell you.
