How do I feel comfortable without makeup? I have dark circles (genetic not from sleep deprivation) and they really bother me I don’t have acne but I still can’t feel comfortable without makeup. It really gets me down and I want to change that Any advice welcomed x

I’ve had issues going without makeup for a long time due to rosacea and acne issues, for me I’ve found trying to wear less makeup more often helps with the transition of going completely without! I now only wear face makeup to work and if I’m going to some kind of event. I’ve found good tinted moisturizers and sunscreens also help me feel more comfortable going more bare-faced!

Take it in small steps. You can start by just going out to the grocery store or the gym without makeup. Absolutely no one will be judging you in those contexts because you’re there to run errands or workout, not to look good. Then maybe you can work up to going other places without. You could also start out with just concealer or maybe replace your foundation with a primer that smooths out or brighten your skin but doesn’t necessarily cover everything up. I find that skincare and just making my skin look glowy and healthy improves my confidence a lot even if it’s not makeup. I have genetic dark circles as well so I understand the feeling

Try wearing lighter makeup sometimes. For me, it was people around me not wearing makeup that got me comfortable, or when I’d be staying over at a friends and realizing no one is commenting on my face or treating me any differently because I don’t have makeup on helped me to not care as much who saw me. Being comfortable around certain people then made me just go in public and not care what anyone thought, no one is staring at your skin as much as you may think they are.

Honestly wearingless/ no makeup was the only way I got to love my face again. Do it in small steps, like weekend/groceries don’t wear any and at school/work try and wear a bit less x
