When people say that withdrawal bleeding could still occur while pregnant they don’t mean when it’s pretty heavy right? Like having a flow for a good few days

No, if your taking active pills it’s breakthrough bleeding which is a side effect & can happen at any time

It’s a good indication that you’re not pregnant. If you’ve used your pill correctly then it’s highly unlikely that you’re pregnant, regardless of whether you bleed or not.

If you are reasonably unsure whether you’re pregnant or not, please do not use bleeding as a pregnancy test. The only way to be certain is to take an actual pregnancy test. However if you have been taking your pills correctly then you are not pregnant.

@Kazoo I did have a scare around October but had 2 pretty heavy withdrawal bleeds since so I was just wondering about this to ease the anxiety

Why did you have the scare @bananajetw?

@Kazoo Genuine anxiety that suddenly started of “what if I’m not a perfect user like I think I am” since I never understood the whole diarrhea concept or being sick very well

I see. It’s important to ease your anxiety, but I don’t think that you should rely on easing your anxiety with inaccurate information/assumptions about bleeding. People can bleed even if they are pregnant so bleeding is not a reliable method to rule out pregnancy. What you can do to ease your anxiety is to learn more about birth control so you CAN understand how diarrhea or vomiting could affect the pill. I’d also recommend using condoms until you understand your pill more and until you trust your pill

@Kazoo thank you so much I’ll definitely give it a read And I did actually take a test around 3 weeks after having sex and it was negative so That’s it that’s just a negative then correct? It wasn’t “too early”?

No problem! If the test was negative after 3 weeks, and you followed the instructions, then yes that was a negative test
