Starting a new job is so difficult! I hate being the new person. I go to school full time and now have this hosting job at a really upscale resort restaurant and the customers there walk all over the service workers. It’s super disheartening because I was excited for this job but I keep having to deal with such terrible people. My third day a lady yelled at me and threw a menu at my face because I told her only the bar could take her to-go order. On top of that I work 7 hr shifts and they don’t give me breaks. 🤦🏼‍♀️ which I think is illegal?!

Yeahhh. The food industry is kinda the worst. There’s no breaks at all. Unless you fully leave and come back. I had all my friends working in restaurants back when and they wouldn’t eat all day long. Only get paid like $2 and hour. And be exhausted by the end of the day. Not giving breaks is illegal. But you should be able to ask for a break. I’m a new host as well right now and ask for a breadstick break. Where I can grab a breadsticks and eat it in the back. But literally as soon as I’m done I go back.
