i think i’m gonna get a copper iud ! anything i should expect?

The day of insertion is very uncomfortable with extreme cramps, but the following day was just slight cramping, by the third day i was fine. I did bleed for about 3 week though, not super heavy until my period came then I bled a LOT. my doctor numbed my cervix with a shot so the actual process of getting it inserted was a breeze, however I know it’s not common for doctors to do that so I wouldn’t count on that. I’m SO happy with mine, I wish I did it sooner 🤦‍♀️ good luck!!

I don’t have copper but I just got mirena and insertion is not a breeze. it’s slightly uncomfortable with a speculum being in you for as long as it is then one instrument causes very very extreme cramping. I was cramping all day from and slept off the pain. today is my second day post insertion and i have slight cramps that come and go but 100% better than yesterday

I had extreme cramps about 30 minutes after insertion that lasted about 2-3 days. I bled for about a week, but nothing bad. In the long run, though, I am SO happy with my decision and wish i did it sooner :)
