Insurance help As you guys may know I had a breast aug July of last year. Last month I received a bill in the mail for breast tissue my surgeon sent out to biopsy for breast cancer. It came back negative but now I received a $300 bill in the mail and it says it’s my responsibility to pay due to “coordination of benefits”. I guess my insurance denied covering it. Is there any way to dispute this? I don’t have $300 to just hand out right now. I’m not great with insurance and my parents aren’t really helping me understand this stuff. Any help appreciated :)

If they’re refusing to pay, chances are they won’t. You can call and talk to them if there was misunderstanding !

Coordination of benefits usually refers to what insurance pays first and which pays second. Sometimes insurance will deny because they want to make sure no other insurance will cover it, definitely call in to find out exactly why and what you can do about it

^and if they still outright deny it, call the hospital. They will probably at least give you a discount or payment plan

Look into seeing if your hospital offers Charity care. They normally pay the bill if you apply and are chosen.

Who should I call? The lab or my insurance company?
