One thing that helped me a lot was avoiding the highway. When I got my license my dad wouldn’t allow me to drive on the highway, he wanted me to start out driving in town, because he always said that at least if I get in an accident it would be a fender bender and nobody would get hurt because it would be so low speed. As usual, my dad was totally right. About 7/8 months after I got my license I got into an accident where I was totally 100% at fault. But since it was in town at an intersection we were both only going like 15-20mph so nobody was hurt. If that had happened on the highway going 55-65, it would’ve been bad. So I highly recommend getting comfortable driving on slower roads before driving on the highway without a more experienced driver.
Also, you can always practice at night or when there isn’t much traffic. My friend used to practice parking and driving a manual car in the mall parking lot when it was closed.
