Do you set a spending limit with your significant other for Christmas/ holidays?

My boyfriend and I set a limit of 200 dollars, and are each getting eachother the following:
Something we want
Something we need
Something to wear
Something to read
Somewhere to go
Something for home
It’s always a great way to do it.

to be honest i just see what my boyfriend needs. he needs airpods since he has a whole iphone 13 with NO airpods 🥲. he also needs gaming stuff since he’s a gamer. for me, he knows i love plush toys and such so he’ll most likely get me that ;)

Hi! We both set a limit that makes us comfortable. We don’t like feeling like one person did more than the other. This is my 3rd Christmas with my boyfriend, and our limit is $250

We've discussed a general amount that we are comfortable spending on each other which is about $50-80. But it wouldn't be a huge problem if one of us exceeded that a bit, it all depends on the gift. I'd personally be uncomfortable with my SO spending hundreds of dollars on me though.

No we don’t really put a spending limit. We both don’t really like surprises so we usually discuss a few things we want and let the other person decide which to get.
My current plan is to spend around €170 on 3 different gifts for him. The reason this amount is a bit higher is because my family doesn’t celebrate Christmas at all so I don’t need to buy gifts for anyone else. If I had family to celebrate with it would probably be a lot lower.

Damn now I feel like a clown for spending 500$ lmaoo, we never discuss limits but maybe we should. If he gets me something cheaper, I’ll just get him a smaller bday gift or something

@UncrushableP if you have that money to spend good for you! I'm just on much too tight of a budget lol $500 is half my share of rent

We don't typically set limits, I probably spent around £250 each Christmas. This year we have set a £130 limit, with the cost of living crisis here in the UK and the fact we just bought a house and are still in the process of decorating and renovating we thought it best to be a bit more sensible this year

@aurielle I don’t that’s why I feel goofy 😆, it gets hard finding new ideas after 5 years. I thought I’d get him an espresso machine, something he’s been wanting for a long time, and this one was one of the "cheapest" quality ones

We don’t set limits. We usually spend around 100-200 on each other. Last year my fiancé got my engagement ring so he obviously went over that $$ but this year I spent $250 on an Xbox for him, I splurged alittle to make up for him going over last year
