Finally got Covid 😭😢 I tired so hard to avoid it since the beginning of the pandemic and I had gone this entire time never getting it but I went to visit my boyfriend and ended up getting it. Sadly we both got it, his first and only time as well but I’m worried because although his experience was nothing close to mine, he didn’t get that as sick as I did he sadly hasn’t gotten his sense of taste or smell back. For all those that have gotten it and recovered fully with you’re senses can you tell me how long it should take for him? If it is more the four can you comment your experience or why it took that long? Should it return at all? I got my first day of symptoms on the 13th and he got it on the 14th but he was almost better by the 16th and I’m barely able to recovery once I got home and got an antibiotic and a steroid.

For those answering it depends can you explain why?

For me I would say it took about 1.5 weeks. I had it fully for 1 week (coughs, sniffles, lowish energy). I felt back to normal after that but still had a tickle in my throat for a few days. My partner got it from me but he only had a sore throat/cough for like a day. My mom (separate house) had major fatigue and body aches for over a week. So yes unfortunately it really depends. We all had the same amount of boosters, but I feel like my partner’s case was so mild because he got the booster more recently. I feel like my mom’s case was more severe because she works with the public everyday and she already has existing muscle/joint problems.

Mine came back slowly after a week or so. I was able to tell if something was sweet or salty and then I picked up other flavors . Everything else I passed it like the flu. One rough night where I had body aches and the cough which went away with medicine for congestion.

for me it took a month for me to fully recover. i’m very bad when it comes to sickness. covid was one of the worst sicknesses i’ve ever had. but i got my taste and smell back at the one month mark! i was happy that i could taste chocolate again but sad that i could also taste salad…not a fan of greens 🥲. he should recover within a few weeks or at most a month. try the fried orange hack if his taste or smell just doesn’t come back (not sure how effective it is though).

TW: food when i had it, i still had my taste and smell. i’ve had family lose their taste and smell and haven’t gotten it back ranging from a couple weeks to a couple months. my sister said having covid made her food taste/smell really nasty, like rotting meat she said.

It definitely depends on the person, I got Covid and got my smell and taste back after maybe 2 weeks but my mum hasn't been able to taste or smell for about 5 months now

it depends for everyone, everyones body and immune system is different! got my taste and smell back 2-3 weeks after. some people never got theirs back, or food started tasting weird or chemically to them. i still sometimes think my sense of smell isnt as strong as it used to be. hope he gets it back soon!!
