Is it reasonable to ask a flatmate not to use/go through your room when you’re out without any real proof that they have done so? I visit family often and go on long holidays occasionally and have noticed my stuff seems to have been used - but I feel like it’d sound crazy to say I can tell because it’ll smell different or that it wasn’t put back exactly as I usually do (I have the tism lol so I organise everything a specific way & I’m a younger sister so got very good at spotting when my stuff has been used). I know if I say not to use my stuff they’ll just say they haven’t.

Have you asked her if she’s been doing so? Explain that you’ve noticed stuff being moved about. If she denies it then it would be more than reasonable to tell her anyway. Is there an option to lock your door?

^^I'd just get a lock for your door.

They’re way out of line. Definitely lock your door.

@yi_eune no as I knew she’d ask why I’m asking and take it as accusatory. I’m unable to lock my door as I’m in a rented flat but I could start locking my nicer stuff in a suitcase when I go away tbf, it’s hassle but I plan on moving out early next year so it’s probably the best solution for now! Thanks x

@Awg1 ah yeah that’s understandable and the rental situation is unfortunate. Locking things away in the suitcase might be for the better for the little time you have left. Good luck!

@Awg1 you can install a temporary lock that you remove when you move out
