How many of you need a TW on posts with sensitive subjects? (It’s not what the TW is that is the main focus, but the fact that you need one)(Even if you only need a TW for 1 subject, it still counts as option 2). If you need more detail about the options: Option 1 - I don’t need a TW ever, sensitive subjects never affect me Option 2 - I always need TW’s on certain subjects, these subjects always affect me Option 3 - I sometimes need TW’s. Sometimes a certain subject will affect me, sometimes it doesn’t. Option 4 - results

I don’t need one. But other people do so that’s why I use them.

I personally don’t usually *need* trigger warnings, but i do appreciate it especially if it’s a heavy topic. I’m aware they’re essential for others so that’s why I use them/remind people to use them if they haven’t.

I don’t need one but at the same time it does help me “prepare” myself if that makes sense. But I still think they’re very important to use.

I can't vote but I fall into option 2. I *personally* need trigger warnings for topics around weight loss, diet culture/food, body image, and separately racism. Most other sensitive topics do not strongly trigger me. I *think* if I'm understanding correctly the purpose of this post is to demonstrate the need for trigger warnings because many people need them, not a referendum on whether or not you think people should use trigger warnings. Because regardless of whether you are personally triggered by a topic, you should use them out of respect for others.

Trigger warnings NEED to be used regardless of how it affects you personally. This isn’t only a subjective preference, it’s done to be mindful of others.

@aurielle Yeah you’re correct, this post was to show people that others are in need of TW’s. I definitely think there is a need for trigger warnings and I often remind those to use them if they haven’t included them in posts containing triggering content. This was more of a poll to ask people if they need the TW’s for their mental health, not if they think TW’s are important to put for other people. I was curious about the amount of people who benefited from the TW’s. I apologise if I put it in a way that seemed like I didn’t think they were necessary.

I personally DO NEED trigger warnings Helps me avoid sensitive topics that might cause me to have bad anxiety and panic attacks

I've never needed them and this is the only place on the internet that I've seen them used but I think they are a good thing for others

It’s not a matter if YOU need them it’s a matter if other people need them out of respect.

I personally don’t need them, but as others have said I think it’s still beneficial to have a heads up on what the post is about if it’s a sensitive subject. And of course many people do need them so they’re very important either way

I personally do not need them at all, however, it will NOT stop me from using TWs because I’m a decent human being and look out for others

I personally do need them, especially with issues regarding weight. I know how hard it can be to suddenly come up with a triggering post so I’m always extremely cautious about it.

I do not need trigger warnings, but I know others greatly appreciate them. On a side note I actually find that having the theme at the beginning of a post helps me know whether or not this is a subject that I can contribute to or not and it does help me spend the little free time I have on this app more efficiently,

I appreciate them being used on certain topics (TW:abuse: sexual/physical). I don’t mind using them. I also, like the subject being present before reading the post.

I do need TWs, there have been many instances on here where a topic I didn’t think would be an issue made me feel horrible after reading the post.

I want to just second what @bluephoenix said. Even if it's not strictly a "trigger warning," I find it super helpful just to see the topic of the post labeled so I can decide if I have the capacity/energy to help out with the post at that particular moment in time.

I don’t need trigger warnings at all. It’s actually quite interesting that this is the only place I have ever seen them being used. I’m in a birth control group on facebook and no one ever uses a trigger warning before posting.

Yeah I need them for heavy topics to do with mental illness, esp depression, and also weight and body image. I’m really glad they’re being used on this forum. I’m used to them from when I used to basically live on Tumblr lol cos everyone used content warnings & trigger warnings. I’ve also seen them used in some twitter threads and instagram posts. They’re super important imo & even if they don’t apply to you it’s respectful to use them for others

I commented saying “please repost with a tw!!” and mypill took it down for being unconstructive. Anyone else?

@aurielle I agree with you I chose option but then I got thinking and says wait a minute I should had chose option 2 TW helps others If the topic is about weight, exercising and eating I have to think to myself on how I’m going to lose my weight, exercise and eating healthier The right thing to do is, repost with TW I may not get triggered hard but others will I was told a couple years ago I think it was, to put TW on one of my post and I have been putting that since then on my post Especially if I’m talking about eating, exercise and losing weight
