As mentioned in a previous post, I was not going to get my refill prescription on time. I finally was able to contact my doctor and get a refill prescription. I went to the pharmacy, but they didn’t have mine in stock and prescribed a “generic” brand (their words). However, I’m not sure if they’re correct. The pill I was on was progestin only. I believe that the pills they prescribed to me are not progestin only. The ones I got are “both estimate and ethinyl estradiol tablets USP, 0.18 mg/0.035 mg, 0.215 mg/0.035 mg, 0.25 mg/0.035 mg” Whereas the ones I had before was “Norethindrone 0.35 mg tab Mylan” I’m not sure if they’re the try generic brand. If not, what should I do? I’ve done some research and I’m confused. I would appreciate any help! Thank you !! 💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊⏱ Brand: Mylan

Okay, so I found something more concrete: “Norgestimate and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets are intended for the prevention of pregnancy. It consists of norgestimate (a progestin). and ethinyl estradiol (an estrogen).” So I’d be switching from pop to combined. Does anyone have any idea on how to proceed? I saw this: “If you are switching from a progestin-only pill to a combination pill, you can start the combined hormonal contraceptive right away. You do not need to wait for your next menstrual period.” Would that mean I’m immediately protected as soon as I start this new pill?

I’d contact your pharmacy again. Giving you an actual generic brand is fine but it’s not okay for them to change you to a different type of pill entirely.

Are you even okay being on a combined pill? Many people are on the mini pill as they can’t be on a combined pill for various health reasons.

@bluerose9 thank you for checking!! And actually, you’re right. I switched to the mini pill earlier this year due to health reasons. I will speak with the pharmacist later today to get the correct type of pill.

Update: they told me that the doctor had written the prescription incorrectly because he only wrote the manufacturer name. They then checked for the one I was asking for, and they said they don’t have mine in stock. ☹️ I’m going to keep trying to get my prescription refill on time… wish me luck 😭
