I’ve been on Diane 35 for 6 years. I stopped taking it on Jan 3rd because I wanted to see what I was like without it. I always wondered what I was like without it, so I wanted to see if my mood swings, anxiety, low sex drive, and so on was linked to it. Overall, so far I feel good. However, I am worried about possibly getting pregnant. With this concern, I’ve decided that an IUD may be the best to protect myself. It’s not ideal, but I think it’s the best decision. I’ve thought about the copper one due to the no hormones, but I’m worried about the side effects. The issue is I can’t get an appointment for the IUD until April, so now I would be 3 months ish without protection (besides condom). Would I be able to go back onto the pill until I get my iud? I would’ve skipped a month of taking it, but I’m just wondering if this is fine?

Stopping and starting birthcontrol is actually not good for you. You can increase your chances of blood clots this way

@window_star Taking a month break is not how you’re supposed to take your pill

I mean i did speak to my doctor beforehand and they said it would be okay (obviously not constantly taking a month off) more like once a year. Apologies if I didn’t make that clear.

You can but as said above there is a slightly increased risk of blood clots and be aware you may experience heightened side effects.

@window_star Taking a month break just causes you to have to constantly go through the adjustment phase which is probably what’s causing those side effects. Doctors don’t tend to be well educated on the pill and I’ve never seen a source to back that information

I have deleted my comment as I don’t want to mislead or spread false information. I have had issues with every bc i have tried and this has been working for me and recommended by a sexual health specialist and a doctor (hence why i thought it was true) however I completely agree that doctors aren’t educated even close enough on any bc/ side effects. I only take this break when i need to as I don’t take breaks on the pill and it seems to be after a year I need a break. Obviously the pill etc works differently for everyone. Apologies for any misunderstanding or error of my comment, obviously I don’t want anyone put at risk hence suggesting to research/ speak to a professional first. But in this particular case from poster if you stop once for a month then continue for X amount of time that should be fine surely?
